JIREH YOUTH CAMP 2012

Children ages 12 – above joined the yearly church activtity of Jireh Christian Fellowship which is the summer Camp.  There were 9 of them who joined this activity. They enjoyed, had fun and were also enlightened by the word of God shared by Ptr. Dick Carumba and other Zion Ministry workers. 

DONATION CAMPAIGN FOR JIREH HOME


In the late days of April, Jireh Home for Children started its donation campaign through Facebook social network. This campaign is all about gathering used clothings, foot wears, bags, toys, medicines and vitamins and even school supplies in preparation for the opening of school year 2012-2013. At present, Jireh Home for Children is already able to gather several assorted goodies and still waiting for more to come.

OUTING AT BERMUDA BEACH
 

Last April 11, 2012, the children enjoyed the clear water of the beach of Samal Island in their Beach Outing as part of their recreation.

Children experienced Island Hopping last May 03, 2012 for the first time. This very exciting experience was made possible by Mr. Dallas and Emma Chopping.  The children really enjoyed snorkeling, looking at the beautiful coral reefs and other sea creatures. They also enjoyed swimming at the back part of the Island where sand is finer than the usual beach they always go for an outing.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE ORIENTED THE CHILDREN FOR 4H CLUB


Children ages 10 and above attended the 4H Club Orientation conducted by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the invitation of Jireh Home and the initiative of Mrs. Celsa Tenala, the Center Treasurer.  The children learned a lot about the programs and services of the 4H Club which is beneficial for them because its goal is to train or develop the 4H aspects of the children which is the Head, Heart, Hand and Health. The children were organized as 4H Club Group last May 2012.

PARENT VISIT



Karl John Mark has been with Jireh Home for children since he was still 1 year old.  It was his long time desire just like the rest of the children in the shelter to see their parent/s.  Finally, after a long wait and invitation of the administration for his mother Mary Jane to come and visit her son, she came last May 07, 2012 to see and have fellowship with her son which made her son very happy. Her visit for two days, somehow helped the child to feel that his mother still cares for him.

REORIENTATION WITH DSWD STANDARDS UNIT HEAD


Mr. Alfredo Sy, the DSWD Region XI Standards Unit Head visited Jireh Home through the invitation and request of the newly appointed Director, Mrs. Shabah Marie Castillo-Pimentel last May 14, 2012. Mr. Sy re-oriented the whole Center Staffs regarding the standard operation for a child caring institution and the clear functions of each staffs. It is the goal of the new Director to improve the services of Jireh Home and better provide the needs of the children being cared that will fulfill it’s Vision which is to have a happy, a well developed, God fearing and productive children.

STREETLIGHTS VISITED JIREH HOME


Erlend Johanessen, president of Streetlights Philippines based in Tacloban, together with his colleagues visited Jireh Home purposely to help improve its whole operation and restructure some practices to better meet the needs of the children. The visit turned out to be very helpful in aiming its goal.  The director as well as the staffs and also the children were very happy and thankful of the time they spent to help Jireh Home for Children.

SCHOOL YEAR 2012-2013


This school year, Jireh Home for children had enrolled a total of 27 children to school. 24 among them were enrolled at the nearby regular elementary and secondary schools which includes three children of ours staffs who are also half orphans and neglected child, the other three (3) children were enrolled at the Alternative Learning School (ALS) in Babak.

This year, there are a total of 2 children who are enrolled at the different colleges in Davao City. Elma Flores, who graduated as Salutatorian last school year is now studying at Brokenshire College taking up Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the help of a foundation runned by a Japanese while her twin brother Elmo Flores is now studying at MATS College of Technology taking up Bachelor of Science in Marine Technology. JHC is hopeful that these children will have a better future ahead.

TABLE ETIQUETTE DEMO W/ STAFFS


Last June 08, 2012, the children of Jireh Home had a “Table Etiquette Demo” which was done with the home life staffs. The goal of the activity is to teach the children how to behave during meal time.

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL


The children are enjoying their Sunday school with Teacher Celsa who is also our Center Treasurer. They regularly have their children’s church while the adults are having their divine service. The new way of handling the children during Sunday turned out to be interesting for the children.
