JHC News & Update
1ST QUARTER 2012
Dear Friends:
Jehovah Jireh Mission Foundation, Inc, a faith based social development agency which operates a home for children at risk especially neglected, orphans & abused. It has been in existence for 15 years and provides holistic programs and services to children that addresses its bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs.
To date, we are sheltering twenty eight (28) children from the different area of Region XI. Twenty four (24) of them are attending school in the nearby public schools, while 4 of them are under rehabilitation program which is closely monitored by homelife staffs. Three (3) out of the twenty eight (28) children were prepared for reintegration to be reunited with their parents and relatives in the next quarter of this year (April-June 2012).
JHC is targeting Alternative Learning Education for some of the children of the home and linked with Barangay Alternative Learning School. Nineteen (19) of our children were recommended to be enrolled for this class. Moreover, to help the children with their schooling, a one (1) hour tutorial sessions is done regularly every 7:30pm – 8:30pm from Sundays – Thurdays during school days with the female Bible School students as their tutors. Ms. Mia Balili, Administrator of Jireh Skills Training and Development Center also offered tutorials to the 4 children under rehabilitaion program which was started last March 20, 2012.

With our long time desire to conduct a children’s advocacy concerning the real life scenario of the less fortunate children in the society, we have launched our first advocacy program at Camp holiday beach resort on Valentine season and the children sang a heart touching songs to the people. The advocacy preparation helped us enhance the talents of the children in singing.

Artistry and creativity of the children were also given attention through creative activities as part of their socialization every Friday night this quarter. Jireh Training Center students were tapped to conduct the said activity and of course with the supervision of Jireh Home Life staffs. It was successful and the children really enjoyed the said activity.

Part of their therapeutic activity is gardening which is regularly done every saturdays still through the supervision of the homelife staffs. Morning clean-ups is also part of their daily routines.
JMFI Admin is planning to maximize land area and start with vegetable garden, livestock and poultry raising for children’s daily food consumptions. Through this future project, we can minimize monthly food budget.

Last February 18, 2012, our children went to Camp Holliday Park and Beach Resort where they enjoyed the pool and the blue waters of the beach. The Admin is looking forward to another children's outing which is to expose them to a zoo and see the different kinds of real life animals for educational inputs.
JJMFI not only provides the basic needs of the children but also consider their psychological aspect. This quarter, 2 of our children namely: Kevin Caballero & Alvin Ybaňez were given priority for psychological assessment. While John Mark Tagui who was found to have mental disorder in the last year’s assessment was scheduled to have his follow-up check-up together with the other two children of the home on the next quarter of this year. Psychological assessment is very vital to help us know inner feelings and problems of the children and will enable us to understand their behavior.

Jireh Mission Foundation, Inc. has recently became one of the pioneer members of Child Alert Network which aims to form a group and work hand in hand to help with the rescue and temporary rehabilitation of the children who were victims of abuse and trafficking. This was formed due to the alarming and growing number of these unpleasant incidents in the community. Through this kind of linkages, it will help us to be more effective in the ministry of helping the less fortunate children. Moreover, JMFI is also a member of Area Based Standard Network (ABSNET) which also help each members with the registration, licensing and Acceditation and other procedures of the institutional operations.
